Taking seriously the context of each psalm in the book of Psalms, Crutchfield examines what that context has to teach us about the meaning and application of the psalms.

Psalms in their Context employs a canonical methodology to interpret Psalms 107-118. This methodolgy begins with a study of each poem as a separate work, but also includes consideration of each psalm in its various literary contexts, including its relation to adjacent psalms, its Psalter context, and its canonical context. The author suggests that each psalm should be understood in light of the Psalter's three-fold themes of wisdom, eschatology and worship.
