I
Wish I Was (ISBN 9781860247019, price £7.99) is the
story of the abusive childhood of Anona Coates, wife of Pioneer
leader Gerald Coates.
After years of physical, emotional and sexual abuse, she discovered
that she was adopted, and that her father had been a German
prisoner-of-war. Anona's childhood was so miserable that when a
friend suggested to her that she might be adopted, she replied
'I wish I was.'
However, it was not until she was 43 that she found out this was
the case, and the book charts her search for both her birth
parents.
I Wish I Was also
covers the early years of the Pioneer church movement.
