The
ultimate Christian girl band, tbc, launched their new
album Talk of the Town with a concert at the Manchester
Apollo Theatre on 23rd November in front of 2000 young people.
During a break in their busy touring schedule – we caught up
with the new line up – Natalie, Meg, Lucy and
Rach...
First of all could you each
introduce and tell us a little about yourself?
Hi!! I'm Meg, I'm 20 and I
love my little green car called Poddington!
I'm Natalie, I'm 23. I'm very short and I LOVE Christmas and
chocolates!!
I'm Lucy, I'm 19, I love shopping and hate spiders –
yuk!!
I'm Rach, I'm 19 and I like sports and
food!
How was the new line up formed?
It's a bit like X-Factor really! We did a few auditions and
we were all accepted and put in the band
together!
Sporty spice, posh
spice, baby spice... if we were to name the tbc girls this
way what would each of you be called and why?
Nat would be pink spice cos she wants to live
in a PINK WORLD!
Meg would be crazy spice cos she's ker-azeeee!!!!
Rach would be navigator spice cos she's the reason we don't get
lost on the road!
Lucy would be Australian spice cos she is English/American and
therefore has a really weird accent – ha
ha!
For those who might be reading this interview
not having the pleasure yet of hearing your music who in the
mainstream would you compare yourselves?
We're kinda like Girls Aloud,
Sugababes, S Club 7 and Spice Girls all mixed together! PURE POP!!
Woohooo. We love it.
You must have to spend a lot of time
together; do you all get on OK?
Yeeaaa, we can get a bit tired and
grouchy (!), but most of our time is spent laughing, giggling and
being silly, so we just laugh off any fights! Haha. So yeah, we do
get on incredibly well.
We've heard that it's not only children that
love tbc but often their mums and even their grans too! Is
this right?
Yes! Parents LOVE it as much as the
kids do. Our music is aimed at families as
well.
Tell us about your new
album.
It's called Talk of the
Town. It's got a total mix of different genres, which should
appeal to all. We're incredibly excited about it!!! Make sure you
grab yourself one when it comes out!
If
you could meet any contemporary musical artist which one would you
choose?
Kelly Clarkson – we all love her
music, and she seems quite down to earth.
What's on your Christmas list this
year?
A holiday would be really
nice!
It seems that these days the media is
constantly telling us that UK children are unhappy and stressed. Is
this your experience from the children that you meet in your work
and what has tbc to offer these kids?
We often meet kids who seem older than
their years. They're not as innocent as they should be, and it's
really sad to see. We offer them a chance to be kids and know that
they are accepted and loved by God. Our concerts are like big
parties where they can just have fun in a safe environment. Our
lyrics are really positive and have an encouraging
message.
