Gospel legend Dottie Rambo dies in
tour bus accident

Media announce the death of gospel legend Dottie Rambo, 74, who was
tragically killed when her tour bus crashed on the way to a
performance in Texas, USA on 11th May 2008.
Dottie started her career as part of a trio called “The
Gospel Echoes” which consisted of several members over the
years including Pat Green and Little Joe Hatfield. Later she also
sang as part of trio “The Singing Rambos” with her,
then husband, Buck Rambo and their daughter Reba Faye as well as
releasing many solo albums.
Rambo reportedly wrote and co-wrote between 700 and 2,500 songs.
Her hits included We Shall Behold Him, Holy Spirit Thou Art Welcome
(In The Place), I Go To The Rock, Sheltered In The Arms Of God, I
Will Glory In The Cross, He Looked Beyond My Fault, Tears Will
Never Stain The Streets Of That City, What Earthly Reason, If That
Isn’t Love, and many more.
Her songs have been recorded by many gospel and secular artists,
including Elvis Presley, Whitney Houston, Mark Lowry, Jessy Dixon,
Sandi Patty, Dolly Parton, Bill & Gloria Gaither, Jerry Lee
Lewis, Crystal Gayle, Alison Krauss and The Cox Family, The Isaacs,
CeCe Winans and David Phelps.
Dottie was recently inducted into the Christian Music Hall of Fame
where she was to be formally inducted on 14th June 2008. She
received numerous awards and other honors over the years including
a Grammy Award for her album It’s The Soul Of Me and a GMA
Dove Award for I Go To The Rock which Whitney Houston performed in
the Hollywood film, The Preacher's Wife. |
