Hope 08 is about bringing long-term and lasting change by
following Jesus' example of word and action mission.
|
 |
‘Hope08 is a really remarkable vision that
has grown out of the success of a number of local urban
projects,’ said Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr
Rowan Williams. ‘Christians have to learn how to give an
absolutely clear answer to the question, "why is this good news?".
Now, with Hope08, this vision is being extended, with great
boldness to the whole country – and even more
widely.’ |
| ‘Imagine a year in which hundreds of people
come to faith because the Church becomes known not for a million
fingers wagging but actually two million arms outstretched –
caring for the poor, giving young people a purpose, and working
with the police to reduce crime.’ says Rev Joel
Edwards |

 |
‘Hope08 will be an excellent opportunity for
people of all denominations of the Christian faith to unite in
regenerating and transforming their local communities, making them
better places to both live and work,’ said Sir Ian
Blair. ‘Hope’s interaction with Safer
Neighbourhood Teams will offer the police, community and faith
groups the chance to work together to make their area safer. Hope08
has my full support.’ |
| Andy Hawthorne has described
Hope08 as ‘the most exciting thing I’ve ever been
involved in’. He added, ‘I honestly believe Hope in
2008 is an opportunity, perhaps like we’ve never had before,
for every denomination, stream, conference and movement to play to
their strengths - and together make a huge impact on this
nation.’ |
|
 |
‘Hope in 2008 provides an amazing opportunity
for all Christians to work together and make a huge impact on this
nation,’ said Mike Pilavachi. ‘My hope
and prayer is that through representing Jesus in words and in
deeds, we can see lives transformed and bring lasting
change.’ |
